What makes my boxing gloves smell bad?

Gloves left unattended after a training session can form batteria and will eventually smell awful. The good news is that there are preventative measures you can take to stop your gloves from being taken over by harmful bacteria or otherwise bad-smelling odors.

Here are some tips to help prevent bacteria from forming.

  • Avoid leaving your gloves in your gym bag after use. When you leave it in your gloves in a tight space, the sweat build up from the workout will allow bacteria to grow.
  • Try to air out the gloves as soon as possible, preferably in front of a fan.
  • Don’t run the gloves through your washing machine or dryer. This will ruin your gloves.
